Until July 2009, Pastor Burrell also served as Assistant Director of Jail Chaplains Ministry at the 701 N. San Jacinto Harris County Jail facility. He began the jail ministry as a volunteer chaplain, serving a total of 28 years. He has touched the lives of hundreds of inmates, their families as well as deputies and staff of the Sheriff’s Department.
“The Fellowship of Hope” sponsors two conferences focusing on teens and young adults. “The Hope” has also sponsored Vacation Bible Schools; Parenting & Evangelism seminars; back to school block events each August; Angel Tree ministry during Christmas and participated in many local community activities and foreign mission kingdom pursuits.
Pastor Burrell attended University of Houston and College of Biblical Studies. He is an alumnus of the Billy Graham School of Evangelism and E.K. Bailey International Expository Preaching Conference and John MacArthur’s Shepherds Conference. He is a past Silver Award recipient for outstanding Christian Leadership in the community from the Harris County Council of Organizations and has served as a board member for “Youth-Reach Houston” (a long-term Christian foster family group home that ministers to the mental, physical and spiritual needs of this generation’s troubled youth) and member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
Kathy attended North Texas State University prior to marrying the love of her life. Kathy has a deep heart desire to disciple teen girls and young adult women encouraging & challenging them to see they can wage war with the world and win! This life-long desire led her to begin a phenomenal ministry for teen girls and young adult women, Earth’s Angels.
Kathy was recipient of the Esther Award and selected for the Cheryl Cumey First Lady recognition for excellence and distinction in ministry presented by Dr. Lois Evans, Host and Founder of The First Lady Conference. She has also been recognized as recipient of the Mary Martha Award from College of Biblical Studies Women’s Partnership. A gifted teacher, she enjoys event planning, worked for local non-profit, Star of Hope Mission and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. A faithful help-meet to Pastor Burrell, Kathy serves as Worship coordinator and extends her gifts where needed in other ministries for Internal Hope.
Pastor George & Sis. Kathy are blessed to see the spiritual growth of three adult sons (Toby, George Jr. & Robert), daughter-in-love (Nicole), a lovely granddaughter (T’Aliyah), grandsons; George III, G. Brooks, D’Angelo & Tobias and guardian daughters; Bareka, Bianca, & Sabrina.
